Role Description

We are recruiting for University Club Ambassadors nationwide. It is a remote, campus-based role with flexible working hours around your university degree. Otter Hockey started when we were students and we want our next employees to be at the roots of where we began. Furthermore, we are looking to make the game of hockey more affordable while offering top of the range equipment.

We produce equipment to be used at the elite level and grassroots level and currently support over 30 Separate University Clubs, including the University of Bristol Men’s and Women’s teams and the University of Nottingham Men’s team.

This is a great opportunity for students looking to gain experience within the sporting goods industry. We are looking for those with an understanding of sales and marketing.

Our business is split into three areas;

  • Otter Hockey - Our elite, affordable hockey brand.

  • Otter Wear - Our custom clothing operation.

  • Otter Non-Profit - Our nonprofit section that is working with the Hockey Dreams Foundation.

As the student University Ambassador, you will be responsible for getting clubs and societies at your University to order Otter Wears custom stash.

Job Description

You will be responsible for growing Otter Hockey’s presence at your University.

To do this you will have to:

  • Create a unique strategy so that you can sell Otter Wear to your University Clubs.

  • Implement your unique strategy.

  • Meet with the President and Kit Secretary for each society at your University and pitch our kit offering.

  • Meet with your University Hockey Society (s) committee and pitch our Hockey offer to them.

Once you get the first society signed up, the rest is easy, everyone will be jealous of that first club!

You will receive an information pack about Otter and will need to stay in consistent contact with the Club Manager who is also one of our Directors. This gives you a chance to impress the management at Otter right from day one, expanding your network. You will also provide regular updates on a monthly basis, to the rest of the team.

Who would suit this role?

Someone who is a real social butterfly and well connected on campus. An all-rounder in both their academic, social and sporting lives.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional sales and negotiation skills with solid basic knowledge of the sporting goods industry. You will be a confident, proactive and organised individual who is a natural problem solver that can thrive in a rapidly changing market environment.

A proven track record of providing demonstrable positive change within an organisation will also be looked upon favourably. We are an extremely small team, and everyone is held accountable for their actions.

If you can make an impact from day one or have a plan of how you will make an impact within your University before you even start, that will be taken into account when hiring.
